Distilled in spring 1974 at the Pennco Distillery Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania. This limited release AH Hirsch 20 Year Old Bourbon Finest Reserve Red Wax is considered to be one of the greatest bourbon whiskies.
Most of the stock was transferred into stainless steel tanks to keep it at an age statement of 16 years. Some, however, were matured for longer in barrel and subsequently bottled at 18, 19, and 20 years old. This is the 20 year old release.

Philip –
The nose is exquisite—rich vanilla, honey, and a subtle note of dark cherries. But by the finish, the wood takes over too much for my taste.
Lester –
For a 20-year bourbon, it holds up well. The notes of spice and dark berries are balanced with a slight grassy undertone that gives it uniqueness.
Lester –
A must-have for serious bourbon enthusiasts. The balance between honeyed sweetness and the punch of oak is perfect.”
Sean –
This bottle represents more than just bourbon—it’s a piece of history. The flavors are intense, with a sharp oak finish that leaves a lasting impression.
Kent –
Beautiful bourbon with deep caramel notes and an earthy spice. I found the finish slightly too dry, but still an exceptional bottle overall.
Rick –
Stunning in both taste and significance. You get hit with a sweet vanilla nose that transitions into spiced oak with a hint of dried fruit.
Clarence –
The nose opens with lovely vanilla and honey, but the wood comes in strong by mid-palate. I’d say it’s an acquired taste due to its age.
Laura K. –
At 20 years, it’s no surprise the wood notes dominate, but that’s part of its charm. For collectors, it’s a must-have piece of history.
Seth –
I love the richness and layers of flavor here. A bit woody, but it’s what you’d expect from a bourbon this old.
