Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2009 | 96 Proof
Wayne Pfisterer –
Aged 12 years, the 2009 release offers a complex mix of caramel, brown spice, and subtle orange peel, but the balance is not quite there. It’s good, but doesn’t live up to previous releases.
Cole Weller –
he nose of brown sugar and chocolate is promising, but the palate is overly dominated by oak. A letdown after the fantastic 2008 edition.
Jeff Neumeister –
A warm finish with a hint of dark chocolate and soft oak, though overall, the bourbon is too dry and lacks the depth of the 2007 release.
Tony Christensen –
Rich caramel and dark fruit on the nose, but the varnish and overpowering spice on the palate left me disappointed. Not worth the hype for the price.
Joe Brown –
The 2009 release has some redeeming notes of coconut and chocolate, but it falls short in overall smoothness and complexity compared to the older vintages.
Peter Kasmin –
Great on the nose but harsh on the palate. The orange peel and brown spice save it a little, but it still doesn’t justify the price.
Gary West –
It starts well with vanilla and dates but the finish is where it truly falters. A disappointing experience for such a celebrated release.
