The Saumurai Scientist is the sixth edition (六) of The Boss Hog series from Whistle Pig. WhistlePig announced that 1,000 bottles of The Samurai Scientist in the US have had their labels printed in Japanese and the silver/gray pewter topper replaced with a black topper, a limited run they’re dubbing The Samurai Scientist Katakana Edition.
The Boss Hog Edition 六 is the first American whiskey finished using Japanese Umeshu, resulting from a true collaboration between WhistlePig and Kitaya brewery on Japan’s Kyushu island. This well-aged Straight Rye Whiskey was created using koji fermentation, a technique pioneered in the American whiskey industry over a century ago by Jōkichi Takamine, whose likeness adorns each bottle.
