Richard Thomas –
The amber coloring of the whiskey has a nut brown tint to it in the glass. The nose leads with a dry and toasty oak quality, lightly dusted with cinnamon, with a fruity vanilla current following behind. The flavor flips that order, with the red berries, raisins, and vanilla coming on first.
Chris Null –
There’s a lot of woody barrel influence here, a common encounter with Angel’s Envy, and water is helpful at tempering the burly heat, giving the finish a brighter cherry note, touched just so with notes of lemon. As is almost always the case, it’s fine stuff — and a lovely holiday splurge for any fan of the standard-strength Angel’s Envy.
Robb Report –
Close to 120 proof is strong but not aggressive, although you do feel the heat particularly on the tip of your tongue. The whiskey announces itself with a nice tannic pop, and this dryness quickly fades into a multitude of flavors including orange zest, lemon, dark cherry, vanilla fudge, espresso, and ripe stone fruits.
Drinkhacker –
A rich and immersive nose feels a bit hot, appropriately so, pushing notes of barrel char and toasted nuts, with notes of orange peel and mulled wine present but a bit restrained.
Whiskey Reviewer –
The nose leads with a dry and toasty oak quality, lightly dusted with cinnamon, with a fruity vanilla current following behind. The flavor flips that order, with the red berries, raisins, and vanilla coming on first, and the tannic and spicy notes bringing up the rear.

I liked this year’s release so much more than last. I found more complexity and richness in the 2022 release, with the bold flavors melding perfectly with the cask strength.

This year’s release is phenomenal! It has a beautiful blend of rich vanilla, dried fruit, and subtle oak, with a finish that lingers just long enough.
